Academic Year 20/21

Our Home learning Statement and Strategy

In the academic year 20/21 we have reflected upon what worked well last year for home learning and where we can improve further. To see our Trust approach during national lockdown 1 and access the resources from this period, which are based on reduced screen time, please scroll down to The Learning Projects and feel free to access.

Home learning across the Trust for the academic year 20/21 looks very different to last year due to the refinement and evolution of our approach. Our aim is to develop a cutting edge approach that enhances teaching and learning post Coronavirus and enables all of our children to benefit from an innovative approach to lesson delivery. To gain a full understanding of our approach please see the document below and feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions or queries. We are more than happy to share everything we have with any school that feels they would like to see more.

You can view our strategy here: Home Learning Statement

As a Trust we have developed a Covid-19 SEF which captures all of the initiatives a school has implemented since the pandemic began. You can access a Word version which is fully editable: Covid-19 SEF Template

The Learning Projects

Information for Parents
Please find The Learning Projects below which were created in 19/20 during national lockdown 1. Due to the advancement in home learning approaches, education has progressed onto a mixture of live and recorded lessons but you may still want to access this resource in order to provide your child with some key learning away from a screen. Please click on Learning Project Overview PARENTS to understand how the projects work. Once you have read this click on the project you want and download the PDF.

In 19/20, as part of our approach to home learning during national lockdown 1, all Robin Hood MAT schools used The Learning Projects in conjunction with Google Classroom in order to maintain contact with children and offer ongoing support. If you are a parent whose child goes to a school NOT in Robin Hood MAT then feel free to access the resources but please check with your own child’s school about support and guidance from teachers. Please also note that the dates on the projects relate to last year but this does not affect their usability.

IF YOU ARE A TEACHER OR SCHOOL LOOKING TO USE THE LEARNING PROJECTS THEN PLEASE CONTINUE TO SCROLL DOWN TO THE EDUCATION SECTION WHERE THERE ARE EDITABLE VERSIONS

Due to Y6 having 7 weeks worth of transition projects to complete, the expectation for the final week for Y6 is that they complete aspects of previous learning projects not completed whilst they were working on the transition projects. Y5 should complete the Y3-5 transition project in week commencing 13.07.2020.

Learning Projects for Education

Editable Resources for Schools to Use

The Learning Projects were created in 19/20 as a free and editable resource for any school to use. With national lockdown 3 came live teaching and recorded lessons across schools and all of the associated benefits of this new approach. One notable downside to live and recorded lessons is the amount of screen time children are encountering. In order to provide an antidote to this, any school can access The Learning Projects and make use of them where they need to in order to provide periodic time away from screens. Please note that the projects were written in 19/20 and have specific dates on them – you can remove these in the Word documents and add your own logo.

Please click on Learning Project Overview EDUCATION and read the document prior to downloading our materials. Please also remember that over time these materials will improve and begin to bring even more innovation as schools join forces. The projects you can download here are the START of the journey we all need to go and NOT the end point. Please keep that in mind because we want to constantly refine and improve this approach.

Please find Phase 2 of #TheLearningProjects which have been created in partnership with STEM Learning and Warwickshire Schools Library Service. Any school, Local Authority or MAT can use these resources as a BASE starting point for their summer term learning as they are all in Word format and fully editable. We do, however, ask that before you begin to download the resources  you do the following things:
  1. Read this document which highlights key updates from Phase 1: Phase 2 Learning Project Overview EDUCATION. This is important for context.
  2. You keep the three logos at the bottom of each project page and the hashtag #TheLearningProjects. Of course you can add your own logos at the top but, in order to credit the great staff team, STEM Learning and Warwickshire Schools Library Service who built them from scratch, we ask that you do not remove these. It would also be kind, if you are sharing the resources online or with others, that you credit the origin. Lots of schools did this in phase 1 and it was hugely appreciated.
  3. If you improve on the resources please share back what you have done on Twitter via @RobinHoodTrust and also using #TheLearningProjects.

WE ASK THAT IF YOU USE OUR LEARNING PROJECTS AS A STARTING POINT AND TEMPLATE THAT YOU KINDLY CREDIT THE ORIGIN WHEN TWEETING OR ADDING TO YOUR WEBSITE.

Managing and Supporting the Workforce

Considerable work has been done on this element – we have built guidance sheets for every job in school should there be a shutdown. All guidance sheets factor in that staff might have children to look after at home and also that staff may become ill. Before downloading the guidance sheets please read the staff letter sent out which provides context and explanation – this letter is also in Word format so that you can use it if you wish.

Site Resource Inventory

For schools in a MAT or in networks we recommend that each school creates a basic inventory list of key items in the battle against Coronavirus. This will allow schools to pool resources should shortages in key areas occur. If you are not in a network or MAT we advise contacting local schools and teaming up on this.  we have included a word document for you to adapt – View Here

Back Up Plans & Risk Assessment

Back Up Plan

A back up plan has been devised and is available in Word to cater for various scenarios linked to the schools being open for Key Workers.

View the Back Up Plan Here

DSL Back Up Plan

A Back Up Plan has been created to help schools deal with the eventuality that all DSLs are in isolation and the school needs to remain open. This plan and concept has been theoretically approved by our legal support team with the Local Authority Safeguarding Board approving the actual protocol. Please read the FULL document and guidance before implementing.  The document is in Word and fully editable.

View the DSL Back Up Plan Here

Dynamic Risk Assessment

In order to support Headteachers and SLT deal with confirmed cases of COVID-19 we have created this template for them to complete. The advice to our leaders is that they complete this for each case where numbers are low but of we move to a situation where there are increased numbers of cases it may become too complex. This tool is NOT to meant to pull Headteachers from their core purpose and distract them from the task at hand – please keep this in mind that a common sense approach is required.

Paediatric First Aid Back Up Protocol

A Back Up Plan has been created to help schools deal with the eventuality that all Paediatric First Aiders are in isolation and the school needs to remain open. This plan and concept has been approved by our legal support team and the process theoretically approved by a Local Authority. Please read the FULL document and guidance before implementing as there are a number of caveats within it. The document is in Word and fully editable.

Staff Risk Assessment

Please find a Word version of our staff risk assessment pro forma that has been built with Coronavirus specifically in mind. Within our Trust we are asking any staff member with a health condition to complete.

Governance

Robin Hood Multi Academy Trust is happy to share our Governance Protocols during the Coronavirus outbreak. Many of the documents added under this section are a work in progress and will be reviewed, refined and updated. We use the term ‘Executive Board’ on our documentation but if you are not in a MAT then you would simply replace this with Governing Body.

Weekly Exec Board Update

In order to keep out Trustees and Governors up-to-date of all our key actions during the Coronavirus pandemic, we have created this weekly reporting sheet. We have converted it to Word so that you can make it applicable to more schools or just one school. Click here for the Word version. – View Here
